For many Malayali job-seekers heading to the Gulf, the hardest part isn't the job knowledge — it's speaking confidently in English during the interview. The good news: interviews are predictable, and predictable means preparable.
What recruiters actually listen for
They aren't grading your grammar like an exam. They want to know: Can you understand instructions? Can you explain your experience clearly? Are you confident and calm? Clear, simple English beats fancy vocabulary every time.
The five questions you'll almost always get
Prepare strong answers for these and you've covered most interviews:
"Tell me about yourself." Keep it to 30–45 seconds: your role, key experience, and why you're a fit.
"Why do you want this job?" Connect your skills to their need.
"What are your strengths?" Pick two, give a one-line example for each.
"Describe a challenge you handled." Situation → what you did → result.
"Do you have any questions for us?" Always have one ready — it shows interest.
Practise out loud, not just in your head
Reading answers silently feels easy but fails under pressure. Say them aloud, record them, and refine until they flow. Mock interviews with a trainer replicate the real pressure best.
Handling nerves
If you don't understand a question, it's perfectly fine to say "Could you please repeat that?" — recruiters respect clarity over guessing. Slow down; speaking slightly slower sounds more confident, not less.
